Petition to the
Illinois Commerce Commision

We the udersigned, land owners and or operators, or user Tenants of property on and along Ameren's proposed Fox River (ALT#2) transmission line expansion do hereby Petition the Illinois Commerce Commision as follows:

  1. Deny any application for use of Eminent Domain
  2. Require Ameren to construct upon another Alternative Route for the line expansion, and in the support of the same we state as follows:
    1. Installation of high powered electric lines will greatly diminish the fair market value of the homes and real estate located on and along the Fox River and in Dayton Township.
    2. Installation of high powered lines will negatively affect the boating public on and along the Fox River
    3. Ameren already had designated a superior route (ALT#1), where Ameren would be placing the lines where lines already exists and thus effecting fewer property owners.
    4. While evidence is conflicting, local residents are very concerned about any potential health hazards which may be suffered by those near said transmission lines, and this is especially important as those lines pass over residential areas and an extremely busy recreational area.
    5. Ottawa Aiport Inc. is very concerned as the very area where the proposed route will be is an alternate parachute landing area. The presence of power lines is a hazard to landing parachutes.
    6. The Airport is a certified airport with a 4,535 foot paved runway and an additional 2 grass runways, 3500 and 2200 feet long, certified June 12, 1996 and has been in continuous use since 1998.
    7. The Ameren Route along the Fox River does not comply with FAA and IL Department of Transportaion regulations.
    8. Ameren has failed to give notice to the FAA as required by both Federal and State Statutes.

We, the group known as Fox River Alliance, recognize the need for the expansion of the transmission lines, but also believe the growth previously expected will not be forthcoming in the near future.

We request that Ameren be required to use another route or in the alternative bury the power lines along the Fox River.
